The first thing you need to know about me is that I'm not you
and a lot of things will start making sense after that.

Why are we comfortable with a group of people and uncomfortable around a few others? Why do some people make us feel stupid or dumb?
Psychologically we are most comfortable around people who respect and like us. It could be actual or perceived, but it definitely puts us at ease when we know that we are liked and/or respected.
Our strengths play a huge role in that. For example, if we are very good at politics or games, we would be most comfortable with groups/people who speak that language and when we are around people that love talking about food, diet or recipes or dance for that matter, we would not be in our element. We would either judge them or become self-conscious.
Howard Gardner's theory of Multiple Intelligence, says that there are at least eight different kinds of intelligence. linguistic (word smart), logical-mathematical (numbers and reasoning smart), spatial (picture smart), musical (music smart), bodily-kinesthetic (body smart)), interpersonal (people smart), intrapersonal (self smart), and naturalist (nature smart).
It's very important to introspect and understand what kind of smart you are. This way you would be comfortable in your own skin and appreciate people who demonstrate a different kind of 'smart'. Being open to learning from each other, lifting each other up and celebrating people around you for their differences and not trying to make everybody a mirror image of you should be the goal.
I want to learn from people around me while honing the skills that make me unique. How about you?
and you know, It's Beautiful being You!
